Whole Barley/Barley Flour is a great source dietary fibre which contains selenium (an anti-oxidant).   It provides digestible energy and necessary protein.

Whole Oats/Rolled Oats have been considered the number one grain for horses for many years.  Oats are very palatable and are the best nutrient-balanced grain, containing about 53% starch, 12% protein, 5% fat and 12% fibre. Oat starch does not contribute to starch overload as it is easily digested by enzymes in the foregut.

Spelt Flour is similar to wheat in appearance. However, spelt has a tougher husk than wheat, which helps protect the nutrients inside.  Spelt contains more protein than wheat and the protein in spelt is easier to digest which makes it easier to handle by dogs that have gluten sensitivities.

Whole Flax Seed  is very rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acid contributes in treating cardio arrhythmia and chronic arthritis in horses.  Its components also help to decrease nervousness, provide healing abilities while maintaining a shiny healthy coat and strong solid hooves.

Unsulphured Black Strap Molasses is the finest quality with blackstrap being from the third boil. It is made from the juice of sun-ripened cane and contains calcium, copper (good for hair colour), iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, and vitamin B6 (energy enhancer).

Canola Oil is the second highest vegetable source of the Omega 3 fatty acids.  It also contains a balance of Omega 6 with a ratio of 2:1 (O-6:O3).  Omega 3 is an anti-inflammatory which aids the horses as a pain and swelling reducer.  Omega 6 is a pro-inflammatory which maintains the immune system.

Apples are high in potassium (important for muscle contraction & nerve functions), as well as vitamin A & C which are anti-oxidants that fight damaged molecules that may cause inflammation, infection and fatigue.  Apples are also an exceptional source of fibre.

Carrots are great for horses that are deficient in vitamin Aand contain a large amount of beta-carotene which converts to vitamin A during digestion.  Vitamin A also contributes to healthy eyes, mucus membranes as well as healthy skin and hair.

Peppermint Oil is used in many cases to prevent motion sickness and nausea.  It helps horses with anhidrosis as it promotes sweating to rid of toxins, acting as a fever reducer and cooling agent. Peppermint oil has also been known as a natural pain reliever and aids in preventing intestinal worms all while providing fresher breath.
